Matthew Jellison is a writer and actor born and raised in New York City. The first two plays in his cycle, the giants, are currently running as an evening of theatre at Loft 227, and Matthew is performing in the first of those plays. Matthew Jellison is a writer and actor born and raised in New York City. The first two plays in his cycle, the giants, are currently running as an evening of theatre at Loft 227, and Matthew is performing in the first of those plays. Matthew is the 2012 / 13 Kenan Playwriting Fellow at the Kennedy Center, a member of the 2015 Freshground Pepper PlayGround PlayGroup, a Semi-Finalist and two-time Playwriting Observor/Fellow at the Eugene O’Neill National Playwright’s Conference, a two-time alumnus of SPACE on Ryder Farm, and a finalist for the 2014 Soho Rep Writer / Director’s Lab. He wrote and executive produced a short film called mug, which premiered at the Coney Island Film Festival this past September. Matthew has acted at Ensemble Studio Theatre and New York Theatre Workshop, among others. He works with kids a lot at the 52nd Street Project, and is a teaching artist with Marquis Studio, Kaufman Cultural Center, and Manhattan Theatre Club. He is a graduate of the acting school at the North Carolina School of the Arts. the giants marks Matthew’s first production as a playwright.
