This is what we go to the theatre for! Genuinely upsetting. Would be a fantastic piece to have an audience react to. Like a horror movie. A fantastic work of physical, visceral, ALIVE theatre. But don't let it fool you, it's not just a shock-piece; Sullivan's words are delivered masterfully as well. Just look at the pacing, the subtle repetitions, the laser-sharp dialogue. She's taken certain meme dialogue tropes and thrown them straight at the reader's face. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Produce it.

The rare plot-driven play! For going for this, Ky Weeks if far braver than I. A heroes journey — but one that feels less like setting off on some crazy LOTR quest and more like going down an internet rabbit hole. Paratora's big monologue is a stand-out — a poeticization of stream-speak. Plays with the idea of being "native" to the internet — something this Gen Z writer appreciates. Would be great to perform at schools.

  • Beckett Flynn: Billionaire Mindset

How much power have we ceded to not only those with vast amounts of wealth — but those with the skills to acquire it? If you buy neoliberal capitalism's narrative, we're just letting the most competent people take charge. But Vermillion's play lets no one off the hook — often the mechanisms to gain capital are completely against safety, logic, reason, and morality. Find shelter, there's a storm coming.

  • Beckett Flynn: The Curious Tale of Marston Moore's Untimely Demise

I knew this was going to be a fun ride as soon as St Peter said she was standing not in front of the pearly gates, but “gates made of the finest pearls”. Plumridge is a wizard with words and this death-comedy crackles with life. Very funny. Would be even funnier on stage — which I think is the best compliment one can give to a comic playwright.

  • Beckett Flynn: The Waters of Her Noblest Rivers

A truly noble play about the value of labor. A reminder that the cynics of the world aren't the government-badmouthing rebels but the yuppies who someone believe that everything has worked out for the best and the fairest — that no one person's contributions can actually help enact change, that wealth is king. A DC odyssey. Read this play.

  • Beckett Flynn: OCCUPIED

Very funny. Horrifying also. An atrocity exhibition disguised as a character study. Most of the scenes take place after culture-defining moments of political violence. But the characters are eerily disaffected. Zizek said that 9/11 wasn’t a wake up call snapping up us into reality, but the killing off of reality, forever condemning us to the virtual world. Kantor’s play captures the hell of growing up at the end of history. Welcome to the desert of the real. The twin towers are living on a farm upstate. Does that stranger have a gun? I'll see you in the bathroom...

  • Beckett Flynn: Easy Women Smoking Loose Cigarettes

Absolutely hilarious. Characters that jump off the page immediately. Tough to read a times, but impossible to put down. A play that deals with healing — real, genuine, messy healing. Absolutely read this.

  • Beckett Flynn: Come Back Right

Funny, dark, and unexpectedly touching. Like David Ives gone dark... and gay. Fantastic.

  • Beckett Flynn: PLEASE LAUGH

Hilarious! Scary! James Corden! A pop culture play that never feels #topical. Someone must stop these late-night psychos and Leiber just might be the person to do it. This play has a chaotic, unhinged, trickster energy. The funniest play I've read on this site by a wide margin.
