Hannah Nikka Odsinada (she/they) is a Seattle-based writer and performer for the stage. She has worked as a librettist, songwriter, studio musician, actor, and music education program manager, and is a published poet. As an artist, she aims to create joyfully, toying with absurdism and popular genres not often associated with opera. Influenced by their education in voice, their libretto has been described as imaginative, woman-centered, and “ripe for a stage.” She was a librettist in Seattle Opera's Jane Lang Davis Creation Lab cohort in 2021-23, a semi-finalist and finalist for the Composers & the Voice Fellowship at American Opera Project, and a student of Guerilla Opera's Libretto Writing Lab. She is a member of Opera America, Maestra, Dramatist’s Guild, New Play Exchange, Artist Trust, and Theatre Puget Sound.

Plays

  • Chop Chop!
In this "biting," satirical horror opera, an Upper East Side mother has only a few hours left to cook the roast and set the table before Mr. Rochester, Papa’s boss, arrives for dinner. Good thing she has her darling twins, Bonnie and Beau, to help her decide on the special ingredient! What'll it be? | Music by Grace Oberhofer.
  • A Stranger at the Door
A post-apocalyptic chamber opera. From the safety of their small, metal ark, sisters Anna and Miriam anxiously brace for a cataclysmic flood. When they spot a stranger approaching on the horizon, Anna insists they offer them shelter – but Miriam fears letting a stranger on board. Music by Daniel J.F. Wolfert.
