Alan Brooks

Alan Brooks writes. And writes and writes and writes.

I have a children's book out at Scholastic, 'Frogs Jump", a few science fiction books on Amazon and am writing more, but my passion is for playwriting, for stage and for screen. I had an agent in Hollywood and have scripts in circulation, a cop thriller currently under option, and feature length film I'm scrambling to finish and would like to shoot myself.

During the pandemic I've had many shorts produced on virtual platforms, which is a lot of fun, but not as satisfying as being in the room. In 2024 my experimental short "Curtain Call" was staged as part of the Black Box Festival by the Gallery Players in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY. In 2026 my new full length play "Man in Motion" is on stage for the Broadway Bound festival in NYC with the goal of launching into a longer run.

I love comedy. I love drama too, tragedy, romance, thrillers... but my way into all of them is through human folly, so I try to keep my pen filled with funny ink. I live in Woodstock, NY and have ties to NYC and also back to my Water, Winter Wonderland hometown of Detroit, Michigan.
