  • I saw the staged reading of this play at Warehouse Theatre in Greenville and was blown away. Veronika tackles difficult material with hilarity, intelligence, and moments of unearthed raw emotion.

On stage, Veronika is a powerhouse: engaging, funny, honest, brave, totally watchable. I felt like I was spending time with a friend.

I’m still living with this play. It touched on things I’ve experienced and masterfully led me to make my own discoveries. This play deserves an audience immediately.

  • I had the pleasure of seeing Swiped at Florida Rep’s PlayLab. I’m so impressed by Samara’s ability to approach a subject like implicit bias in a play with so much heart and humor. It’s a gentle and enjoyable ride, so much so that you don’t even realize your assumptions are being gradually dismantled. Samara deftly crafts characters who are complex and memorable. I know audiences will love this show as much as I did. I can’t wait to see this play widely produced.

  • I had the pleasure of seeing Dalloway at Florida Rep’s PlayLab. It’s as hilarious as it is smart in Lindsay’s capable hands. The language is rich and the theatrical ending took my breath away. It’s a gorgeous play that speaks directly to this moment. Read it, produce it! It deserves an audience.

  • I had the pleasure of seeing the reading of Why We Go to Florida at Florida Rep's PlayLab. It's a gorgeous script with 2 powerhouse roles for women. The play is hilarious, moving, emotional, nuanced, and so well-written. It never falls into stereotypes; rather, all three roles are masterfully rendered, complex, round, real. Ken's play was an audience favorite for good reason. Read it. Produce it. I can't wait to see it fully realized in production!

  • I was introduced to claire dettloff's play through the Valdez Theatre Conference. It's an hilarious short play that uses physical comedy to explore taking a walk in another woman's bra. The hilarity gives way to a rich, important theme in this smart comedy about women. I would love to see it fully staged!

  • Stacey Isom Campbell: The Totality of All Things

I was in the audience for the reading at the Valdez Theatre Conference. And wow! THE TOTALITY OF ALL THINGS dominated the conversations in the hallways and at lunch. I think the reason I loved it was because with the subject of small town America and discrimination, it's all too easy to resort to stereotypes and easy answers. Instead Gernand teases out so many complexities in the characters. There are no heroes and no villains. Just humans dealing with big things. It was lovely, rich, provoking, funny, sad, and in the end hopeful.

  • Stacey Isom Campbell: The Adventures of Uta, the Wandering Uterus

I was introduced to this play through the Valdez Theatre Conference. Very funny. Several huge laugh-out-loud lines. Bold and imaginative characters including a bladder, brain and uterus! You'll have to read this wild ride to find out!

  • Stacey Isom Campbell: How to Pronounce Samhain

I had the pleasure of being introduced to Michael C. O'Day's play through the Valdez Theatre Conference. it's a play with lots of laughs, physical comedy, and heart. The play deals with big subjects like the rituals around death, Covid, and varying stages of life but does so with ease and a great deal of humor. It's a play that feels right for this moment when we need to find a way to respect each other even in our differences.

  • Stacey Isom Campbell: THE THREE OF US

The Three of Us is a captivating play about two sisters navigating death and grief. I found the relationship of the sisters to be very relatable and authentic. The many layers of these women and ways they relate (through laughter, rivalry, anger, food) were crafted brilliantly. I especially loved the moments of laughter which provide a necessary counterpoint to the subject matter.

The structure and pace of the piece reflect the rhythms of the days leading up to and preparing for death and reveal a masterful playwright. This play had a profound effect on me!

  • Stacey Isom Campbell: Singularity

I had the pleasure of reading SINGULARITY in a workshop setting and seeing the development of it over several drafts. It’s a wonderfully paced, well-orchestrated page-turner with heart. The characters are distinct and complex as they navigate the high-stakes world of tech startups and artificial intelligence. The surprising twists made for a wild ride in this masterfully structured play, but what stays with me is the unexpectedly emotional journey of these characters. I cared deeply about what happens to these characters whose choices have big repercussions.
