Smalls & Talls is an intimate dramedy tracing the evolution of a friendship between two very different women. Talia and Samantha, best friends from a college theatre program, have grown apart. “Talls,” a petite Afro-Latina, has spent the pandemic entangled in an abusive relationship, losing hope that her career will ever get off the ground in NYC; “Smalls,” a Black plus-sized software developer, has built an upperclass life for herself in San Diego. When they reunite on New Year’s Day hike, old wounds around body image, race, and class are exposed, which play out in real time and also moving backwards through the history of their friendship. Smalls & Talls asks us: what does it actually mean to be a good friend?
