As a neuro-divergent, queer, mixed-race Latina, there is not a single societal box that can neatly encompass me or my multi-disciplinary art. My purpose is to embody the unseen so that we may find the courage to illuminate our inner magic. I live this in many ways: I am a performer, a screenwriter, a producer, a poet, a bruja, and a playwright. It simply depends on which medium best suits the idea that wants to sing through me.

Growing up, I never saw families like mine or people who looked like me reflected in literature, onstage, or in films & television. My parents came from different races, ethnicities, cultures, religions, countries, languages & generations. I felt like I belonged nowhere & that I wasn’t “enough” of anything to be a whole of something. As the largest growing demographic in the USA, mixed-race people need authentic representation. I feel this urgently when I speak with my nieces & nephews, who in elementary & high school & college are experiencing the same ostracizing I went through. My aim is to change the world by providing the respite of representation for mixed-race people - I need to put us back into the narrative.

Onstage, I tell romantic stories with high notes as the ingenue, or provide comedic relief as the little sister. This combination of swoon & sass has found its way into my writing, which proudly errs toward purple: telenovelas were my childhood naptime companions, after all. As a typewriter poet & tarot reader, I translate my clients’ hopes & fears into words that will guide & inspire, in mere minutes. My personal poetry is often bilingual, weaving Spanish into the English to mirror the code-switching that constantly happens in my ten-lane highway mind. My plays blend grounded dialogue with poetic magical realism, and often experiment with time.

I hope my work in every medium will inspire other mixed-race girls to share their magic.
