  • JESSE/JESSIE: A Short TYA Monologue

High stakes, clear objectives, natural dialogue, and social relevance gives this monologue for young actors something wonderfully tangible to work with. Great audition piece.
  • Gonna Need to See Some ID
    22 Oct. 2017
This is a tongue-in-cheek rendering of all our collective experiences buying everyday items in a post-911/post meth kitchen world. Really gets at the absurdity of misplaced security and misguided policy. Quick paced with fun dialogue and larger-than-life characters.
  • Mother's Wishes
    18 Oct. 2017
Oh, so much cringe worthy fun! Sometimes, these three adult siblings can work together through their mother's failing health, but not very often and not very well. But who can blame them with parents like theirs? For those readers with children, there's something deliciously satisfying about Mother's bad behavior and her filter-less tongue. Driven by snappy dialogue and flawed but endearing characters, this full-length play is a joy to read. Audiences will love to laugh at this show!

Full of wonderfully creepy imagery, this highly theatrical short play employs an actor and puppets to tell a dual story. A poetic and haunting ghost story in the Southern tradition.
  • Remember, Remember
    13 Oct. 2017
The premise of this short play is really funny, and the action follows suit. Father and teenage son are at odds, and one wonders how they even came from the same family. A fun look at how weird teenagers can be. Charming!
  • The Great Vietnamese Bicycle Company

Everything I've read by Goldner is outrageous. This full-length play lives at the intersection of Vonnegut, Beckett, and Sartre, Army trucks and bicycles, men and women, them and us, life and death. Only Goldner can make us laugh at colonialism, war atrocities, and dismemberment while still probing existential tragedy. A brilliant play I cannot recommend enough. Just wow.

Madness, death, and the supernatural are all Southern Gothic elements this creepy short features. The play moves back and forth seamlessly between present and past, dragging with it characters that can find no peace in either.
  • The Holes in Human Flesh
    8 Oct. 2017
A conflict of identity and self-serving motives are shown in high relief in this short play set against the problematic backdrop of 'mission work.' Rich, well developed roles for young women and a much-appreciated commentary on American Christian imperialism.
  • Pix of Your Partner's Privates

A frank discussion about sex, technology, and what does - and doesn't - qualify as romance as experienced from opposite genders. An interesting look at love in the modern age conflicting with old-fashioned values.
  • Moon in a Barrel

A delightful play with adorable characters, the tone may appear at first to demean but it ain't so! This is sophisticated, stylized comedy. A perfect little folktale for children and parents alike. One of my favorites from the Midwest Dramatists Conference. Highly recommended."
