The ever-thoughtful O'Grady gives us a grand love story laced with environmental awareness that is as profound as it is adorable. Nora Ephron would stand up and applaud this short play, all the while cursing that she never got around to writing her own bumblebee romance. O'Grady more than delivers in her stead, surprising absolutely none of her loyal fans.

SUCH a clever take on the 37 ORIGAMI BEES title challenge .. with 37 consecutive origami bees!
Norkin delivers with razor-sharp wit (I laughed at "Save the bullying for online") and an unlikely champion, who only becomes even more unlikely. It's over too soon, but leaves us wanting more, so ***grumbles*** it's probably just right.

Syran gifts us with a short poem, a moment between a mother and child, that runs deep and finds its way into your veins.
"The Child reacts with a sharp intake of breath..." So, too, will audiences.

I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that when Raymond Carver passed away, he passed the baton of writer of short, devastating examinations of humanity's spectrum on to Cathro, who accepted it with gusto.
Here Cathro gives us a glimpse of a relationship in its final death throes, and clearly shows why it's a toxic one. (Shelly deserves better! Brady is a douche.) In her quest to make a thousand origami bees, Shelly might have come up 37 short, but she'll be better off in the long run. I hope.

Who among us HASN'T been a queen bee feeling utterly hopeless about our chances for finding love?
Khanna blends bee science and humanity's quest for romance for a unique officeplace setting that still rings with universal truth: For all the Rogers and Craigs out there, there are also Beatrices, and that is something that can give each and every one of us hope.

Oh Harold. I suppose it's an honest mistake? But maybe Harold is justified in his upsetness at first when he thinks the error is on the other end (although it seems he could use a lesson in being a courteous customer). Heyman does so much in such a short period of time, and leaves us with many points to ponder. (I hope Harold keeps his order!)

Floyd-Priskorn takes a prompt and immediately finds the sliver of emotional gold and kindness buried within. This play radiates with sunshine and kindness in the face of overwhelming grief. This would be a sure-fire addition to any short play festival, and an immediate crowd pleaser.

One person's artwork is another person's way of trying something different to help. What talent Haas has with her ability to make CHORES a wistful and poignant moment between parent and child, with an environmental message to boot. Save the pollinators!

Hilder gives us an interesting exploration of societal niceties and norms and communication/relationship health. Claire and Gordon are making progress, but they both still have work to do. But Hilder also lets us rest easy knowing that they'll get there, with the help of a half-hour every Wednesday morning and a little bit of origami. An excellent, well-balanced study in character.

This one stressed me out! In the best possible way?
Alles proves he knows how to explore every possible inch of a stage and an idea. A human experiment in folding, indeed. I love that each origami bee came with its own feeling. Infinitely clever.
