Another immersive play from Aleks Merilo. From the moment the aging tailor begins speaking, we are made audience to a powerful tale about the lasting echoes of hatred.

In this play lives the spirit of advice found in the Epistle to the Hebrews, "Let brotherly love be firmly established among you; and do not forget to show hospitality; in doing this, men have before now entertained angels unawares."

A wonderful spiraling tale about the power of obsessions and how the innocuous can become anything but. Disturbing and powerful.

I agree with all the previous recommendations, and here's my 2 cents:

In The Upper Room is a window into a family with three generations worth of intricacies. "Long Day's Journey Into Night" cubed. I am still unpacking the layers. It is an awesome work, in the original, "awe-filled" meaning of the word. My love for this play cannot be overstated: it has reminded me what plays can be and is a call, a dare to up my own game. This play does not simply lie on the page, it lives!

PRODUCE IT!

Open Meeting Closed has a hilarious situation and distinct characters. This ill-timed, ill-fated intervention rounds the comedic bases with biting insults, slapstick, gunplay, and the carrying of an unconscious person. The play has a great deal of promise and I hope to see it soon.

Policarpa is a rare joy. It is a world I know nothing of, and one I am drawn to. Diana Burbano has fashioned something mythological and real, based in a future Gran Colombia. The women of Policarpa are tremendous and challenging. They are beautiful, powerful, and strong in all respects. Read this play, Produce it, Act in it, Demand to go and see it. You'll see me there.

A tale you'll identify with- at first. Two people so run ragged by modern America's rampant negativity and obsession with safety meet on a Metro train. An unopened gallon of milk becomes the topic, but this play ends with a twist reminiscent of Zoo Story. Shocking and fun.

This incredibly clever play is a fresh look at a time-honored tradition: meeting an online connection for the first time. Expectations and preferences fence with the characters' sense of what they want. Congratulations to Jessica Moss for fresh insights into a nascent couple's first meeting.

Burbano's work is incisive and biting. The comedy transforms the NRA into a de facto religion. That is hilarious enough, but when a nut-shot member tries to get his common law wife's guns taken away, the satire spirals. Produce this play.

The play is a subtle look at two people who are at a recurring impasse. Weibezahl's couple dangles on the brink, discussing anything that keeps them off topic. Mission is a realistic glimpse, and we are left to imagine what happens next. A very promising play, wide open for interpretation.

Beware the powers of hashish and sexual longing... especially at a family reunion! This comedy is a fun and naughty look at the changing needs from generation to generation- and a send up of farces that arise from inconceivable situations. A hashish inspired time travel leads to some adventures for Joanie and Luz- most certainly not a play for young audiences.
