Brutally honest, intensely personal, gorgeously theatrical – Emma Goldman-Sherman's FUCKT is extraordinary on any and every level. As riveting as it is to read, I can only imagine how powerful it will be when staged. And it should be. Often.

FUKT is an explosion of a play. And the combustible material is Truth… the nature of it, how it reveals itself, and how it hides from anyone who needs it for their very survival. Emma Goldman-Sherman has done nearly the impossible in this searing play… she has found a way to tell a highly personal story in a manner that makes it, not just relatable, but experiential for us, her audience. And yet despite the story’s inherent pain, FUKT is infused with wit, entertainment, and a deep compassionate understanding of what it is to be human.

A powerful, moving, emotional, and at times heart warming play. Can we run from our past? Tuck it down deep inside and forget about it? Or must we confront it no matter what? As we bounce back and forth between three versions of the same woman baring her soul for all to see, it's hard not to be moved.

This play isn't afraid to have emotional whiplash because that's how real life is. But no matter how dark it gets, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. A beautiful, personal piece.

Reading this play was an emotional experience. I felt an allegiance to each perspective, and I felt their conflict between wanting to reveal the truth and wanting to bury the pain. I appreciated how the moments of humor and the addresses to the audience artfully help ease the tension without distraction. Many of the reviews use the word "brave" to describe FUKT and I agree. The characters open their veins- and not in a pretty trickle of blood down the side of the bathtub way. It's messy, and ugly, and unflinchingly real.

A braver story has not been told. The heart and integrity beams through, the one who feels compelled to help others by raising their voice for those who don't have one. For the greater good, every stone has been unturned with sheer beauty and truth. There are no words to express value of the gift that has been given. All I can say is thank you for writing it.

A necessary play - an up close and personal look at sexual abuse and how it affects both child and adult. Because this is so cleverly written, it is engrossing. Our culture seems to downplay this kind of abuse and deny the child is telling the truth. Maybe this is an unfortunate layover from the past. But it is more than unfortunate, it is criminal. Let's teach students at an early age "to tell their secrets". The courage Emma Goldman-Sherman demonstrates provides a fine example for others.

I found Emma's play to be completely disturbing, brilliant and profound and proficient at comedy, all at once. So I'm quite taken by the talent of this writer, and thoroughly surprised. I'm looking forward to reading more. It's inspiring to see an example of a play that up-ends structure in ways that are actually beautiful and effective.

The interplay between the characters illuminates both the complexity and irony of incest in a painfully personal way. While subject matter of this nature could easily become another tragedy, Goldman Sherman demonstrates her dramatic skill by leaving the audience with an image of hope.
