  • Emily Hageman: Where the Fireworks Come From

Tender and sweet and breathtaking. I saw the performance of this wonderful play at the Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival and I found myself so beautifully taken by this marvelous short play. Pisaturo lovingly creates two incredibly real young men who are struggling. He reminds us that magic in this mundane, confusing world is still so possible. This play will live in my heart for a long time.

  • Paul Donnelly: Where the Fireworks Come From

Tony and Gabe don't feel for a minute like characters in a play. They are real, complex, flesh and blood teenage boys dealing haltingly and movingly with their different reactions to the same truth. This subtle and ultimately deeply moving piece deserves numerous productions!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Where the Fireworks Come From

Beautiful play about truths and fears, more than but including the fear of one's own truth getting rejected or the fear of never having the courage to even speak it - this short provides all the inspiration we need to admit our truths, and I hope it gets produced a lot!

  • Rachael Carnes: Where the Fireworks Come From

A stunningly fresh and compelling coming-of-age play. Pisaturo imbues this dynamic moment with grounded realism and lets the language and rhythm tilt and lift into poetry. There's palpable feeling on every page, and I can only imagine how audiences will lean in, to carefully watch and listen to this story's unfolding.

What an endearing coming of age story! Michael managed to pack a lot of history in just a few pages and by the end it feels like we’ve spend a lifetime with these characters. Must read!

"Coming-of-age" of the highest order! Nothing about Michael Pisaturo's writing feels artificial. His dialogue and plot devices all feel down-to-earth, soulful, and utterly real. The fireworks serve as a terrific symbol for this piece. Loved it!

A beautiful, intimate slice-of-life play about two characters who deal with their feelings for each other in contrasting ways, making for a fascinating conflict. Well-paced and vivid, you learn a lot about these characters and who they are over the course of ten minutes. A lovely piece!

  • Caitlin Turnage: Where the Fireworks Come From

This is a stunning and intricate play about two people seeking solace and love in each other in a community that they feel strangled and suffocated by! Tony's monologue about why Gabe hates the smell of beer is STUNNING! In a simple short Michael Pisaturo paints a vivid image of two young men truly needing each other. It's a beautiful play with vibrant imagery and would be an excellent addition to any ten minute play festival! Please do yourself a favor and give this writer's work a read!
