I try to put myself in the unseen Dr. Gary’s position to figure out how to counsel Billie as he faces relationship issues with Minky, a sock monkey, who is having an affair with a corgi. And I have to laugh. And you will too throughout this zany, yet relatable story. The visual aspect combined with Rachael Carne’s sure fire wit make this a pure delight.

Super silly and surreal, BOOTS is, at its heart, a relationship story and the tools they use from couples' therapy are actually very relatable. Even if you aren't a burly guy in a relationship with a sock monkey. This would be a very visually entertaining play!

RACHEL CARNES’ ten-minute play, “Boots”, is so much fun to read and is undeniably a gem which audiences will love to watch. The characters, Billie and Minky, are brilliant. Quirky, witty, determined, lovable are only a few of their many traits. Bravo! Great work!

The character dynamics pop, the banter is fizzy, and the conceit - an argument between a human man and his roommate, a sentient sock monkey - is surreal but familiar. “BOOTS” is a funny, bizarre, and thoroughly charming two-hander.

A brilliantly funny piece. I love the personality of the two characters and the witty back and forth. Had me laughing out loud pretty much from the beginning.

BOOTS is a hilarious play that takes relationship issues to a new level. Within this delightful play with deliciously impossible characters, there is truth to trying to navigate a struggling relationship. Characters use avoidance, defensive accusations, pleading, and justification — familiar techniques in relationship discussions, but Rachael Carnes goes completely over the top with hilarious results.

Oh my goodness! I laughed aloud while reading this play. It balances so well the silliness of the situation with the reality of the relationship. I laughed and I also furrowed my eyebrows, feeling true empathy for my good friend Billie, as he hears that donut scented corgi scratching off stage. Thank you for sharing!

A hilarious sock monkey play where a couple works on their relationship despite an affair with a donut-scented corgi, cheese doodle differences and an avocado toast that to hold on to. So funny!

Laugh out loud funny, zany, insanely creative - I'm in awe of Rachael Carnes' mind. BOOTS does what the best plays do - gets the audience to suspend their disbelief, and go along on a very merry 10-minute ride. Carnes mines the travails of a sock monkey for all it's worth. Can't wait to see this performed! Read it, and when you're done laughing, produce it!

I needed a laugh today and this play gave me so many! I'm drawn to Minky's strong wants that just keep coming. Poor Billie is faced with so much upheaval, and in the end I'm pretty sure Pavel is responsible for all of it...so I'm ready for the next installment! A delight, and I would love to see this onstage.
