Recommendations of a found monologue

  • Tiffany Antone: 20 Questions: a found monologue

Ooh, I love this. Simple concept with multitudes of interpretations and so much room for the actor to play.

  • John Busser: 20 Questions: a found monologue

Weirdly enough, this piece is both all over the map and also seems to follow a natural flow in a stream of consciousness sort of way. It's brilliant and amazingly simple. I'll bet an audience would find it fun wondering where it goes next. I know I did.

  • Evan Baughfman: 20 Questions: a found monologue

This is a truly inventive and intelligent piece. It says quite a lot about the human condition in such a short amount of space. I imagine that a number of actors and directors would have fun bringing this monologue to life!

    I CONCUR!!!

The directing, design, and performance possibilities with the piece are limitless. I want to see what a composer and choreographer can bring to the proceedings.

A terrific idea executed with Carbajal’s signature poetic precision and panache!

Wow, such a simple idea and yet the potential for performance and staging is boundless. I would love to see this performed by multiple actors and directors to see what unique takes they could bring to the material.

  • Elisabeth Giffin Speckman: 20 Questions: a found monologue

Fantastic piece open to creative casting, direction, and staging. Utilizing found text, this piece jumps off the page and opens the doors to all of the ways poetic and postmodern techniques can affect and improve performance.

  • Matthew Weaver: 20 Questions: a found monologue

If you're not already a Carbajal fan, I highly recommend his found monologues as an introduction, both to his work and a way to expand your mind about the things playwrights and the words they write can do. The way they can speak to universal truths, the way they can summarize the human condition, the way that they can -- yes -- play.
Carbajal is a master of this, as well as an inspiration to his fellow writers. He's knocking on our door after dinner, asking if we can come out and play, and to bring our A games.
