Recommendations of THE BEAUTY OF A ROSE

  • Conor McShane: THE BEAUTY OF A ROSE

A fun sci-fi-oriented piece that gets into some big questions like whether humanity can or even should be in charge of its own destiny, and indeed the things that make us human in the first place. The play strikes an intriguing, somewhat detached tone, the reason for which becomes clear as it goes along. Thought provoking stuff!

I was definitely surprised where this play took me! As other readers have noted, it is very much like a Twilight Zone episode and would definitely play well for audiences. They won't know what hit them at the end and they will definitely be talking about it for a long time after they leave the theatre!

  • John Busser: THE BEAUTY OF A ROSE

This reminded me of the type of science Fiction I read in my formative years; quick, full of big ideas and with a fun twist to it. Like a Twilight Zone or Outer Limits episode, I wanted to have Serling or the Control Voice from OL come on at the end and give you a nice little philosophical end to make you think about what you just saw. It will be interesting to see what becomes of this play as we not only explore the ideas of emergent AI, but our place in our planet's future.

  • Chelsea Frandsen: THE BEAUTY OF A ROSE

This short play has a delightful "Twilight Zone"-esque feel. And the twist is one I didn't see coming. A wonderful offering for play festivals.

  • Ryan Kaminski: THE BEAUTY OF A ROSE

A thought-provoking page-turner with quite a few twists and surprises. The dialogue is so well constructed and the banter between the characters is so natural that when the twists come they are extra powerful. A well-crafted one-act that is bound to be featured in a lot of festivals. Well done!

Don't read with the lights out. Could have been a Rod Serling Twilight Zone episode.
