This short radio play is a very good time. I heard Broken Arts Entertainment's production of it, and they nailed the silly sound effects and the over the top line deliveries. What a smart, funny script, mining the audio format for every possible joke. I was thoroughly delighted from start to finish.

Name confusion puns and multiple references to "the writer" identify this hilarious short for what it is - completely self-aware silliness. Busser simply nails the dual parodies of daytime hospital dramas and radio plays. Don't miss the half of the staff gaff alliteration! So much fun - multiple spit takes including "Some are children, so it should be fresh." More sound effects! LOL!

This is what I get when I put out a FB post asking for examples of well written, high quality radio plays. Leave it to Busser to lure me into this beautiful disaster. Nothing but utter disrespect for the audio drama artform. UGLY DOCTOR HOSPITAL is Busser at his comedic best, though I’d argue he’s always at his comedic best. I expect he did little to no research when he put together this brilliant parody piece. Best intro I’ve ever received to a genre I was not familiar with. Highly recommend.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Ugly Doctor Hospital

This being a radio play and all.... Is Busser at his hilarious best! Even more so by the fact that the characters are questioning the writer and are having to fill the gaps and improvise. This is clever stuff!
This would make for a very funny radio play, especially if recorded in front of a live audience. Brilliant!

  • Nora Louise Syran: Ugly Doctor Hospital

This meta-audio-theatrical romp through the other hospital (not General Hospital where the good looking doctors are) will have you in stitches (sorry)! It's hysterical. You're in good capable hands with John Busser but you'll need a bit of post-op recovery time to stop laughing.

  • Donald E. Baker: Ugly Doctor Hospital

A hilarious radio-style pillorying of the tropes of General Hospital-type soap operas and television doctor shows in general. It's full of Busser wordplay and general silliness, self-referential jokes, and bargain-basement sound effects, which makes it another of his long list of comic gems.

  • Morey Norkin: Ugly Doctor Hospital

This being a radio play and all, it’s probably the funniest play I’ll never see! Puns, groaners, sound effect humor, it’s all here. And breaking the fourth wall, but you can’t see it this being a radio play and all. John Busser has outdone himself!

I saw the title and couldn't resist. Busser does funny better than anyone I know and this play is no different with the jokes coming at you so fast and furious that you'll need a trip to the ER just go get your face calmed down from all the laughing.

John Busser mercilessly pelts his audience's ear drums with punchline after punchline in this old-timey soap opera parody. If one gag doesn't get ya, the next seventeen will. Hilarious!

  • Melissa Milich: Ugly Doctor Hospital

Sooooo FUNNY! If the title is any indication of the treat in store, you're in for a laugh fest. This play is absurd and witty and a parody of just about every soap opera and medical drama that ever existed. Lines like: "We just heard of a huge accident involving a steamship down by the docks colliding with an elementary school. Injuries should start pouring in anytime now" only get better. If you need humor, seek no more. Bravo John Busser!
