Starts innocuously enough and then knocks the breath out of you! A super, short two hander horror piece that's easy to produce but thrilling to act. All you need are two male actors and a fishbowl.

It started with the matching outfits... a darkly lit vending machine... and a simple goldfish. I will never look at goldfish the same way again. DC CATHRO has created a world that is full of secrets, lies, and cravings. WOW! This pieces needs to be produced.

Creepy vibes abound in this supernatural thriller, in which an uncomfortable conversation in a liminal hotel hallway turns into so much more. I love how the moments of highest theatricality are simple, allowing the actors to shine even above technical elements. The tension is palpable throughout but rises to a fever pitch during the shocking reversal. The final image is as creepy and enduring as it is thoroughly satisfying! A cool concept executed fantastically!

This a a barrel of wow. DC guides us through the dark with a deft hand. Just when we think we know where we are we are led into even darker territory. Brilliant through and through, and terrifying to boot.

  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: Goldfish

Absolutely chilling. Cathro is an absolute genius. This is a slow burn that ends in such an exposition. What is great about this piece is it gives two actors a fantastic chance to show off their chops, and delve into different types of acting. The characters and their motives are highlighted very boldly, and the ending switch with Stanley and the goldfish really just shook me to the core. This was an absolute thrilling perfect for anyone in the mood for a good spook.

Unsettling yet oddly satisfactory, the only thing you can be certain of when you experience DC Cathro's 'Goldfish' is that you don't know where it'll end up.

DC CATHRO’s play had me thinking ‘I can see where this is going’ until I was totally surprised (mouth open type) with a ‘what-the’ moment. “Goldfish’ will give you a never-to-be-forgotten different perspective. You will love to read this play.

WOW. This play didn't go where I thought it was going to go at ALL - in the best way. Excellently creepy! If I saw "Goldfish" in a night of short plays, this is one that would stay with me. DC Cathro does a whole lot in just a few pages.

Disturbingly creepy fun from the master of disturbingly creepy fun. And I'll forever be looking askance at Goldfish now – both the living and Pepperidge Farm kind.

DC Cathro is a twisted and cruel genius. His plays are filled with a dark whimsy that leaps off the page and burrows its way into your soul. “Goldfish” is...arguably the wildest short play I’ve ever read. So nudge nudge...produce this sucker and you’ve got a piece audiences won’t be able to stop talking about for weeks. The set-up, the layers of complexity and musing on revenge, and the twist! You won’t see it coming. And...it’s a good one. Damn, it’s a good one.
