  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: "It's All About Me"

The loss of identify in a relationship is something a lot of women think about but this writer creates that feeling wonderfully in this short piece. You can see the character talking over her termoil and you half want there to be other women in the room with her so this wonderful piece of monologue could be converted to what I'm sure would be a wonderful full length piece.

  • Quinn Xavier Hernandez: "It's All About Me"

"It's All About Me" is subtle and simple, yet it is because if this simplicity that it packs quite a punch. The character of Jenny is incredibly vulnerable in this pain-filled, yearning, poignant monologue. I'll be adding this to my list of monologues to recommend to actors--I would be thrilled to see it in an audition room.

  • Karen Fix Curry: "It's All About Me"

This powerful monologue is about being subsumed by relationship, and wanting to feel that sense of self again. I felt her pain, her longing for individuality, and her self awareness of her own peril. It is poignant, and has a quiet desperation that makes for a layered, rich exercise for the actor. I would love to see this at an audition.

  • Scott Sickles: "It's All About Me"

    Simply gorgeous.

One simple "married couple" act becomes a crack in surprisingly thin ice. The monologue is beautifully low-key. The actions described are the opposite of high drama. Yet the simplicity Jenny's motivations raise the stakes astronomically high. She has a need to connect with the person she used to be who is simultaneously always right there and constantly out of reach. Her husband isn't a villain, stereotypical or otherwise. It really isn't about him. It's about the evolution of a person's life and identity, and the cost of love. This would make a tremendous audition piece.
