So powerful! A mother and her son. A bond. Such a touching play. It says so much, especially for a short play. After finishing this gem, you might need a moment to just reflect. ---I know I did.

Incredible play by the amazing Andrew Martineau. There is so much that I want to say without giving any of it away. The layers, mystery, and the craft of hiding his work in the dialogue kept me engaged and on the edge of my seat. Highly recommend this short piece!

Martineau is a master of the short play form. The ability to evoke and sustain emotions and audience engagement is a gift. The author gives us both, finished off with an unexpected twist that is poignant and powerful! A wonderful play!

This play drew me in from the very start and does what a play can do where you think one thing, but then it's not right and that is one things about literature that is always so fun to experience. Drugs are tearing this world up on pill a time and nothing can relieve the pain a parent feels when their child is caught up such a lifestyle, but Martineau gives us the beautiful ode to grief, to love and to the everlasting bond that a parent will always have with their children. Beautiful!

A loving mother, imprisoned by regrets, remorse, and guilt, is visited by her son. Memories, some good, some bad surface in this poignant, one-act play. Heartrending, this is a play that needs to be shown in schools and colleges throughout the world. Bravo!

For reasons I cannot say, this play touched me more than I can say. Which makes it worth reading, seeing, and hearing, because if it has that effect on me, then it will reach people who need to read, see, or hear it. It is moments like this that make up our memories that never leave us. I had a feeling that I knew where Andrew Martineau was taking me, yet I still found wonder and realization when I got to the end, knowing I've been through my own visitation and finding affirmation in seeing it through his eyes.

Wow... reading this play was a very moving experience. It begins in a quiet and subtle manner and it reveals details and important story information gradually. There lies the brilliance of Andrew Martineau's writing. It is subtle, quiet, and patient... and then it makes a sudden left turn that occurs at just the right moment that left me shaken and moved. At its core, VISITATION is a moving story about the far-reaching and everlasting love all mother's have for their children through out their entire lives.

Just when you think you know where this short play is heading, there's a twist and a surprise ending which I didn't see coming, A very strong two hander dealing with addiction.

I found this such a moving piece, especially as the reality of the situation unfolds. How do you stop a mother worrying, ask my mother - the answer is never. Highly recommended!

Wow! I had no idea where this was going, and frankly, it didn't matter. The interplay between Mother and Son is so well played out, that I was entirely caught up in the drama. Andrew has cleverly reversed the roles we would normally expect in such a drama and, whether intentional or not, this literary slight of hand blinded me to the ending...masterstroke!
