A powerful piece about dealing with grief as well as a moving tribute to fallen soldiers and their families. It’s easy to identify with the young airline passenger who prefers to be left alone with their thoughts instead of engaging with their talkative seat mate. I felt myself sharing the annoyance, and then Joe Swenson did the unexpected. Subtle but so effective. At the very least this play should become a Memorial Day tradition.

This script evokes a great sense of being trapped in space. I liked the reveal of the double meaning of the title.

Bittersweet and anxiety provoking. Joe Swenson has constructed a taught piece rife with grief, annoyance, and the slightest hint of the supernatural. The pace is perfect and the revelations come at exactly the right times.

Loss of any kind is utterly devastating and the emotional wave you get through reading this wonderful piece very much showcases that. Joe has presented you with a woman who has experienced a horrendous loss and for a while you sit and think one thing before he gives it a wonderful twist that changes the meaning of what you are seeing. It takes a gifted writer to be able to do that well and I believe that this play is a prime example of that. Its no wonder this play has already won competitions, another wonderful piece Joe!

Wow. This highlights a part of military family life and death many don't really know about. And of course, many don't really talk about either. It's the military way, after all. Perhaps Braden getting Joanie to rage and feel her feelings out loud is a way to break through the suffering in silence most do in this moment. I hope Joanie gets to let it all out on the rest of this flight!

Joe Swenson's "Angel Flight" is an exquisite and heartrending play about death, grief and sacrifice. Sometimes the people we meet in random encounters are exactly the people we need at that moment, and Swenson shows that perfectly in this short play.

This powerful play offers a unique perspective on the impact of grief on the human psyche. A seemingly banal exchange between a grieving daughter and a stranger on a plane is revealed to be so much more.
