  • Christopher Plumridge: Angel Flight

Swenson has such a unique, compassionate style to his writing, able to take once again a difficult subject and treat it with the perfect amount of gentle respect. This play proves this once again, with a twist I really did not see coming, probably because my mind allowed itself to expect another outcome, which makes great writing like this all the more fascinating. Beautiful.

  • Scott Sickles: Angel Flight

Understated yet powerful, this is an unsentimental meditation on grief and a beautifully observed look at how the military handles death and family.

The two lead roles are uncompromising in that Swenson doesn’t force us to like or sympathize with them. Rather, he trusts both his characters and his audience to go along the journey with them. The smaller roles have substance as well, leading gravity to an emotional crisis in the air.

    Moving, cathartic, and surprising.

Painful and beautiful, this short play will touch the hearts of audiences. Grief is a powerful impetus for powerful moments.
