Recommendations of The Replacement

  • Scott Sickles: The Replacement

Hilarious and adorable response to a harrowing circumstance. Norkin pulls no punches as he relentlessly tickles our funny bones indicting fascism while extolling the virtues of knowledge. A sharp satire with fun roles for actors in a wide range of ages.

  • Arianna Rose: The Replacement

A fantastic play that uses humor to make a very important point about hatred, ignorance, and scapegoating. I loved every line. Bobby bubby baby will lead the way! This play should be performed in all the festivals. Always.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: The Replacement

Here is a brilliantly conceived idea that is worked with great finesse and humor! Norkin takes on the Holocaust deniers and white supremacists in a funny, punny, and satirical story that would be a hit at any festival! Wonderful work!

  • Bruce Karp: The Replacement

I found this play to be moving and timely. Norkin's depiction of the bubbie was spot on, funny when it needed to be, and serious when she is making a point about hate. A very successful walk on the tightrope between the two sentiments. This is a play that should be seen!

  • Eric Pfeffinger: The Replacement

Edgy and regrettably timely, this play dismantles hateful rhetoric by pushing it to the absurd extremes of its logical conclusions. A politically engaged and necessary work.

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: The Replacement

I adore this play! It starts off so scary, but Sylvia is so witty and strong. And young Cliffy, so earnest and wanting to learn, even though he gets it wrong sometimes. Such a wild and fun way to send home a message on a dark and terrible subject. I wouldn't have thought such a thing could be done. That Morey Norkin is a miracle writer, I tell ya! This is a play that needs to be produced often!

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Replacement

Well, this arrogant white nationalist certainly meets his match in Sylvia, in this clever little stand off play which seesaws between fantasy and reality. Morey gives us a tender balance between hate and humour, I do believe there is a much longer play to be written here, but it holds its own as it is.

  • Paul Donnelly: The Replacement

Mel Brooks once said, "The only way to get even with anybody is to ridicule them. So, the only real way I could get even with Hitler and company was to bring them down with laughter." Morey Norkin successfully takes the same approach to contemporary white nationalist Holocaust deniers. I hope that his optimistic ending has real world application.

  • George Sapio: The Replacement

Would that it were this easy. Mr. Norkin's short play strikes a dangerous yet hopeful tone in a struggle deep and unfathomable. Maybe peace and humor are the ways to enlightenment--but you'll need a brave bubbe like Sylvia to make it happen!

  • Daniel Prillaman: The Replacement

Norkin's play is a window into the absurdity. Yes. Truly this is the exact scenario white nationalists fear. It's a hoot that turns quite serious, resulting in an experience that is simultaneously hilarious and sobering, ridiculous and tender, but perhaps above all, hopeful. Maybe there is some way to get through. Because education and empathy reveal all. It's not a fear of replacement as it is their own demise or perceived place in the universe. Sooner or later, we will all be replaced. What truly matters is how we treat our fellow travelers along the way.
