Recommendations of Heist!

  • Jacquelyn Floyd-Priskorn: Heist!

I laughed so hard at "Oh Marianne. Know your worth." This is such a fun short play that will have audiences roaring, despite the fact they are being held hostage by a couple of thieves. The banter with the unseen hostages and the surprises the thieves keep discovering about their not so well planned heist are just brilliant. This will be a favorite in an evening of short plays!

  • Morey Norkin: Heist!

What a riot! Two of the most incompetent thieves you’ll ever meet attempt to steal the Hope Diamond. In this two-hander, Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend makes great use of the audience as the unseen school tour group and the Smithsonian docent, Marianne. The laughs are nonstop. Great for all ages as evidenced by the wide range of productions and awards received.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Heist!

Hilarious wild ride of a play with surprising and sympathetic characters (for thieves!) and great theatricality. Fantastic for all ages. I would love to see this on stage!

  • Greg Mandryk: Heist!

This is just beautiful. Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend is a heavyweight landing joke after joke on her audience. In the hands of a pair of skilled comic actors, Heist! would be criminally hilarious.

  • Liam Castellan: Heist!

Very funny, excellent pacing. Things just keep getting worse for the thieves, their panic is hilarious but their determination to keep going and their revisions to the plan are hilarious-er.

  • John Minigan: Heist!

Heist! is an absolute delight! It's funny and resonant for all of us who have felt ourselves a little (or a lot) overmatched for the situation we've elected to be in, and the brilliant pivots the characters make are hilarious--what a treat for the actors. If I'm ever robbed, I hope it's by Billy and Gene. This piece will be a hit in any short play festival.

  • James Perry: Heist!

A brilliant illustration of two bumbling thieves and a heist gone wrong. This play explores themes of unexpected consequences, adaptability, and the absurdity of criminal plans gone awry. The play's clever dialogue and comedic situation would make for an outstanding performance.

  • Kelly McBurnette-Andronicos: Heist!

This play was selected for the Snowdance 2024 season at Over Our Head Players.

While we shouldn’t condone theft, I was kind of rooting for these bumblers who had the audacity to go after the Hope Diamond. I especially enjoyed the silent, invisible Marianne, a character we never see or hear but who is fully fleshed out by our thieves mere reactions to her mute responses. I would love to see more of these two. Well done.

  • Philip Kaplan: Heist!

Who doesn’t love a heist planned by incompetents. “I think we should change tactics.” “Were we using tactics?” A very funny and theatrical two hander.

  • Vince Gatton: Heist!

I know a script is really good when I find myself reading it aloud -- when the rhythm and music and sometimes just plain dumb glory of the dialogue compels me to speak it and hear it and play every part. Such was the case in my reading of the charming HEIST!, in which two incompetent criminals take a big swing at a big score...and try to pivot as it all goes predictably wrong. Billy the Kid and Gene Wilder may suck at jewel theft, but they're experts at stealing laughs. A delight.
