Gratitude, love, memories...these are the things that truly matter and the things that deserve to be in the family newsletter. Our House to Yours is a bittersweet, holiday play with a beautiful exchange between a wife and her husband.

At this time of year, we are often told ‘tis the season to be jolly or be of good cheer. In OUR HOUSE TO YOURS, Stella makes every effort to go above and beyond in the family holiday letter, all while being gently corrected by her husband, Dan. With this play, Debra Cole has given us a loving gift that brings warm smiles but also sends a message that we all can welcome at this time of year or any other. Thank you, Deb!

You had me at the exclamation points!

But, Deb… two people lovingly proofing and editing together… debating substance, subtext and structure… all while marking up a hard copy???

Mrs. Cole, you’re trying to seduce me!

On top of all that… and all the delightful banter and scorekeeping… the revelations of private truths behind the friends and family spin… is the perfect payoff to a sublime setup.

Unabashedly sentimental without being saccharine or maudlin, it’s a lovely portrait of marriage and family. A delightful holiday gift!

    Unwrap this one early!!!

A seemingly humorous take on the typical family Christmas newsletter becomes a powerful and resonant reflection on the meaning of family and holidays and connection with a surprising reveal.

Debra Cole walks us through the beauty of a mundane holiday task. She holds our hands and reassures us that there is a universality to family dynamics. And then she leads us into another dark but familiar place. One not as easy to accept, but equally full of beauty. A gentle, loving short play that gives us a dose of what’s truly important.

It has been a while since I've read a play on NPX, and frankly Deb's play was a refreshing reminder of the great talent that NPX playwright offer. 'Our House To Yours' was precious. One that makes you start to think this is laughable comedy, yet as you read, it turns right around into a heartwarming drama that needs to be produced in the next Christmas season, and many Christmas seasons to come. Someone get Deb hooked with an agent, stat!

Truly beautiful! Christmas newsletters are things that have been mocked many times but in this case Deb creates a moment between Dan and Stella as they debate the contents of that years Christmas letter. To begin you think you are going to have a wonderfully giggling humorous piece, as I did giggle quite a bit to begin with but then Deb presents a twist that invokes emotion and makes you truly appreciate those you have in your life. It could be the perfect addition to a seasonal show! Another wonderful piece from Deb!
