Loved the setting of this romantic comedy and its at first familiar tropes--but pull on a strand and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Williams' skill at conjuring up summer magic and endearing characters is on full display here. Bravo.

I'm always impressed with those who can pull off a different spin on the romantic comedy tropes, and you definitely have that here in the funny and intelligent "Cabana Boy." "Adult" is a really good way to put it, and by that I mean the characters all act like adults, even the younger characters. There's a contemporary realization here in terms of where we are in society and who we choose to love. This turned out to be a very fascinating "coming of age" journey for Mitch, and it was a pleasure joining him on it in the beautiful Keys.

A summer romance offers so many possibilities. And in the care of Philip Middleton Williams, the story takes turns that delight and surprise. In CABANA BOY, we meet a cast of characters who go beyond stereotypes and embody humanity in all our complex identities and grounded desires. Philip takes us on a positive queer journey with humor and romance that offers so many possibilities beyond just one summer.

"Cabana Boy," a great read because of the shape dialogue and complex characters. Mitch and Ben, the pool attendants, convey youthful energy and camaraderie. Alex, the guest, exudes a friendly demeanor, while Miriam, his wife, conceals emotions beneath her poised exterior. These nuanced characterizations contribute to the play's intrigue. Worth the read!

Philip Middleton Williams is a wonderful storyteller. Here is a sincere love story full of twists that enhance the likable characters and their wants. The thoughtful and well-crafted script brings a good feeling to you. My only want? To see it produced to really see these folks living their lives. Kudos, Williams!

Philip Middleton Williams has crafted a twisting waterslide of a narrative with this play that will leave you feeling heartened and satisfied while simultaneously pondering your own but-what-if's.

At first I thought this was going to be a poolside, modern version of Dangerous Liaisons. But Mitch's story of finally having his first love, and having it be such a huge and literally shooting star of a summer romance is just so beautiful and relatable...I mean, we all dream about a famous person falling hard for us when we're young! This is a summer romance that will stick with audiences for a while. I adore the "first pancake" metaphor! I use that one a lot, myself!

Philip Middleton Williams' "Cabana Boy" is a brilliant stage play script. There are elements of suspense that makes the script an absolute page turner, which means that whenever this work is produced on the stage, it will leave audiences riveted. The script is also a love story-- a complicated love story, which I mean in the very best way. To avoid spoilers, I won't go into the details of this finely crafted tale. But what I will say (and I mean this whole heartedly) is that Phillip Middleton Williams' play is one of the best scripts I have ever read.
