What a sweet and uplifting Christmas fable! Santo restores Ash's faith in his own magic and together they set out to restore family connections sundered by technology. I wish them much success in their wonderous endeavor.

This may be a lighthearted, family-friendly Christmas play, but I'm willing to bet there will always be someone in the audience who relates to poor Ash the Chimney Monster - someone for whom Christmas no longer feels magical, who needs to learn that the way to regain the "spark" (literal or metaphorical) is by giving to others. The dialogue is quick, clever, and sweet, and a chimney monster would be a blast to design and costume! This would be a charming addition to a holiday festival of shorts!

Heartwarming, family-friendly, and full of heart; this play is perfect for the holiday season. It encourages audiences to spend a little time together, and what better way to do that than at the theatre?

Cole's Santa sees through even the sootiest of us all...and knows how to get the embers of humanity glowing again. But even he has his limits: there's a treat waiting for him in Liechtenstein after all and Spark has a backup schedule or two to meet. Great fun.

Ah, this is proof that not all monsters are nasty or evil. In this heartwarming short, Santa does his best to appease the chimney monster, tapping into his/her/its/their heart and finding an ember still glowing.
As support characters go, Spark is a fun character with lots of attitude.
A really unique and satisfying play!

A perfect script for the holiday season, to the point where if you can read this without a warm smile finding its way to your face, your heart is defective. Get it fixed. The three characters are wonderful foils for each other, and the play’s musing on lost connection hits hard and meaningfully in this era of companies’ predatory hijacking of digital technology. The algorithms are not the way. People are.

Awww I was not expecting a play with the word "monster" in the title to be heartwarming, but here we are. This short is VERY cute. I love the grumpy/sunshine dynamic between Santa and Spark, and how Ash (the titular monster) is actually very sweet underneath all that soot. I'd follow these three all night long as they deliver gifts!

Light, warmth, and a bit of snark! The perfect ingredients for the perfect holiday treat. I’m hoping Ash and Spark will continue to delight us for years to come. Thank you for this gift, Deb Cole!

Cole has all the elements of a holiday classic at work here: a new twist on the venerable Santa story marked by playful humor and some genuine heart-tugging. Clever and memorable.

Clever and adorable, Debra Cole's Chimney Monster tugs at the heart. I love the sweet rendering of Santa juxtaposed with his snarky helper. Perhaps we now have a new Christmas character to love in Ash? Very well done. I can see this short playing at holiday festivals.
