A new adorable Christmas story to warm the heart! With a family-friendly, yet universal message - this would be perfect for any holiday theatre festival! Ash might've just replaced Frosty as my favorite Christmas mascot. Well done!

Debra A. Cole's "Chimney Monster" is sweet while avoiding cuteness. And that requires skill. And talent in abundance. And I have to admit that I enjoyed the idea of a "chimney monster" - an idea which can be expanded upon in another play? Perhaps?

Wonderful little present by Cole. (Definitely made the most of her title gift!) I'd put it up there with the best of holiday favorites. Unexpected message that just totally fits and elevates the work from a charming character piece to a great message for these particular holiday times. This would make an excellent children's book or animated special. But primarily, it's a great short play, and audiences of all ages are going to have a lot of fun when they see it. Ho ho ho! Cough. (Sorry, Ash.)

Aww!! Such a sweet story! I loved the relationships between all three of these characters! I appreciated how Santa was willing to give Ash a chance even though he/she/they was/were rude in the beginning. All Ash needed was a little warmth from someone to find his/her/their spark that they have been yearning for and missing. This was a warm, lovely, and funny play that's perfect for the holiday season! Awesome work Debra!

After nearly sixty years of cheesy Christmas specials -- with the notable exception of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" -- it's high-on-the-rooftop time for a new entry. Debra A. Cole has given us that gift that honors not just the holiday but the togetherness that it is supposed to create. Having grown up in a house with two working chimneys and the maintenance that comes with them, I feel the warmth of this humorous and touching tale.

Such a sweet and clever play! I love the creative Santa insults from Ash, and that Spark sticks to their guns. It's perfect for a holiday play festival, and so very heart "warming".

Just a delightful holiday play for the whole family. It manages to be heart-warming while still being a very sharp points about our increasingly inward-facing culture and the erosion of empathy. Fun characters plus a meaningful message equals terrific holiday play. Well done, Deb!

Sweet. Delightful. Warm. This play delivers a heartfelt message of hope in a disconnected time. Ash is a perfect monster to reflect the emptiness we may feel during a season meant to bring us together. It’s a lovely ode to the magic of Christmas.

A family-friendly Christmas-themed hostage negotiation. I love it! Jokes aside, CHIMNEY MONSTER is a 10-minute holiday piece that contains some unexpected, but welcome, commentary on family connection, overcoming prejudice and lost innocence, and the trademark warmth of the season. Great work, Debra! (PS: I don't know if this helps, but I read Ash's dialogue in Dick van Dyke's haphazard Cockney accent from Mary Poppins.)
