Well! Now we know Busser was taking NOTES!!!!
Busser's delightful rambunctious play is a celebration of what happens when playwrights come together, particularly out of a love for chaos, creativity, knowledge and effusive profanity.
You don't necessarily need to know all of the players (but it's even richer when you do-- COME JOIN THE FUN), you can read the transcript and enjoy wordplay that would fit right in in any screwball comedy.

LOL - IYKYK. Busser has written a gut-busting lover letter to Playwright's Thriving. So much fun. Anyone know where I can find a copy of Scott Sickle's “No-Longer-Green-Acres” cycle?

One doesn't have to know the players to enjoy this delirious farce. But knowing even some of them adds another level of lunacy. This is a bonkers love letter to playwrights near and far.

Whether you know these talented playwrights or not, BUSSER has written a ridiculously entertaining short play. The pace - the banter - I'm here for it!

Sure it's inside baseball, but consider me a season ticket holder. A manic comedy delight for those in the know. I love you delightful weirdos. John Busser should be arrested.

I feel FAMOUS. This delightful Zoom play is basically a documentary of a Playwrights Thriving meeting, but even if you don't know any of the people the characters are based on, this still holds up as a whimsically bonkers play - and it has the largest cast I've ever seen for a piece of Zoom theater, which only adds to its chaos and, I think, would make it tons of fun to watch. There's a lot of action going on, even despite everyone being in tiny boxes on a screen.

As a writer myself in a zoom group, I found this erstwhile play both painful and painfully funny. Also, knowing some of the characters depicted--and they ARE characters in every sense of the word--it made it that much more laugh out loud hilarious. I could farm out more bon mots about how quick and witty and entertaining this play is, but I'm with the banned and I'd like to keep it that way.

Character defamation and assassination to the Nth degree with a smattering of self-deprecation. And I am all for it. No one writes comedies like Busser and this one had me cackling from the start. "Erstwhile" captures individual voices and community bonds so well, too.

I really enjoy how playful this play is, how it's both a love letter to- and a skewering of- friends. A piece that shows that Zoom theater is not dead- in fact, there are wacky and experimental uses for it yet!

As a character in this play (however small the part), I am honored. I also applaud Busser for having the tremendous good sense to keep himself out of it. That being said, I laughed at everything except the laugh lines I was given. Busser knows re-incorporation and puts that skill to great use in the blended genre smoothie. You don't have to be a member of Playwrights Thriving to appreciate Busser's hilarious writing...but it doesn't hurt.
