Funny, quirky, honest, and just strange enough to be enjoyable in the most unconventional way.

Adorable! I love the casting twist, too. It means so much more. The last line is absolutely a great tag line. It should also be on a poster for an evening of Matthew Weaver plays, but looks a little like a high end liquor ad...but I digress. This is meta in a very endearing way.

  • Adam Richter: 19 Excellent Reasons to Date Matthew Weaver (a monologue)

A funny, charming and insightful monologue that I found an absolute delight to read. I loved the jokes but even more I loved the emotional honesty of the piece, how Matthew Weaver reveals things that so many of us keep hidden from the world in making the (quite compelling) case to date him.

Can I describe a monologue as “loveable”? Because this monologue is just that. Metatheatrical honesty by a playwright just putting himself out there. (Plus I LOVE that it should be performed by a not-male performer!)

If NPX was a dating site and I was at all interested in guys... these would be 19 excellent reasons I’d say yes, Matthew Weaver. I hope everyone who reads or hears this feels the same.

Well I’m convinced. This monologue is charming, relatable, and has the lovely advantage in these socially distant times of being something that would work well on Zoom. Delightful!

  • Jackson Castello: 19 Excellent Reasons to Date Matthew Weaver (a monologue)

This monologue is so sweet and honest. I've also never seen a monologue where the playwright is writing as themselves. That was really new and exciting to me. I also loved how many times it rang true-- the whole monologue was so insightful. Bravo!

  • Michelle Donkin: 19 Excellent Reasons to Date Matthew Weaver (a monologue)

This play is so charming. I'm a bit smitten. It's such an interesting and honest, quietly funny and lonely monologue. It would be interesting for a female performer but any gender really. The piece leaves a lot there for the director to explore, expand and the actor to develop - even if they took it really dark too. I can see it working for Zoom particularly well.
