Artistic Statement

Ms. Hamanaka has been in love with the theatre since childhood, as her father, Conrad Yama, was an actor who brought the family to see his performances. She loves actors and the magic and power of the theatre. She believes in using or combining writing styles that fit the play, epic to realism, expressionism, etc. and is particularly interested in portraying anti-war, anti racist, equality for women, pro working class dramas and musicals expressing historical struggles, the brilliant American quilt and its relationship to the world.
