In all my work my aim is to provoke, illuminate and generate empathy using humour, wit, warmth and humanity. The subjects in my work are often marginalised but my desire as an artist is to be inclusive and to engage with as broad an audience as possible. Art has the power to change, to inform and to entertain. These are all important goals for me. My ambition with all my plays is to create technically-excellent work which is ambitious and original, connects with audiences and leaves them changed. I spend most of my life reading myself into other people’s worlds I write because I want to invite others into mine.
