I was gay and grew up in the middle of a cornfield in Indiana so I understand the need to escape sometimes. And I have never felt more at home than in a dark room full of strangers watching other strangers stand up and tell me a story. That's what I'm interested in exploring with my writing: Storytelling. How we tell stories, how we used to tell stories, how we can tell more stories. I like stories about love. I like stories about unlikely families. I like stories about secrets and deep emotions. I like watching characters on stage navigate through their day while they try not to let the weight of their history hold them down. I like seeing characters fail. I like seeing them succeed. I like watching them fall in love and then grow to hate that person they loved. I like seeing myself on stage in unexpected ways.
