I am mainly drawn to writing plays about historic and cultural figures and events. In telling such stories, I believe writers have an obligation to be accurate in the facts while seeking the truth. Where we don’t know the facts? Those hazy, dimly-lit fissures in the historical record...? That is where our imaginations come into play… what if…? maybe such-and-such really happened…? Those are the types of stories I am compelled to tell.
