Artistic Statement

My artistic vision stems from my life experiences—shaped by my identity as a middle-aged, gay, Black American living with Parkinson's disease.

These elements of my identity influence how I engage with the world and vice versa, which ultimately defines my artistic perspective. A society that neglects to reflect, evolve, and grow is destined to fail. I firmly believe that art is indispensable for the survival of any community. It's ingrained in our very being to yearn for stories that help us understand ourselves and one another. Through storytelling, we not only hold ourselves accountable but also learn the importance of grace and forgiveness.

Every form of art tells a story, whether it's through painting, sculpture, architecture, literature, cinema, theatre, or music. Art is a vital force in our lives, offering us the chance to view ourselves through various lenses. This opportunity is crucial for self-reflection, personal growth, and the advancement of society as a whole.
