  • Debbie Lamedman: The Emperor's New(er) Clothes

John Mabey takes this classic tale and flings open the doors on the best parts of its symbolism and metaphor. Mabey writes the Emperor as someone desperately fighting conformity, yet at the same time unwilling to completely embrace their own identity. It’s a wondrous play that shows how our leaders in modern society typically deny obvious truths in order to gain favor with the masses. This play would be amazing to see live onstage with all the technical gadgetry the script calls for. What a wise and marvelous script, Mabey has created. I highly recommend this!

  • Debbie Lamedman: The Shark Play

This play has it all! Love, hate, death, blood, on-air feuding, friendship, betrayal, vomit, and sharks! This play is so smart and fast-paced, and we find ourselves rooting for the two main characters and their impossible situation. Wonderfully inventive and theatrical, I would love to see this play performed live. The characters are dynamic and the dialogue authentic. Jonte's writing is strong and fun and I highly recommend this wonderful piece of theatre.

  • Debbie Lamedman: alex getting better

I love how this story unravels; how it is told through different perspectives, but ultimately comes back around to Alex. As we take the journey with Alex from start to finish, we get to know her and feel her need to question her friends about the "something" that happened when they were all in middle school. Lang incorporates a type of poetry in introducing us to Alex's friends and letting us hear her inner thoughts. It's a well-told tale, told beautifully, and shows us how subjective memories can be. Wonderful work!

  • Debbie Lamedman: Thank You For Your Service

I've read this play several times, and it gets to me every time. Those of us who love our dogs as if they were our children, will be moved by this tender story of courage, war, and deep-loving relationships that continue long after they seem to be over. Solomonson has written strong, dynamic characters that move the story forward, and any actor would welcome the chance to play any of the three roles. A strong piece for any 10-minute play festival. Wonderful work!

  • Debbie Lamedman: Sin - One Act Play

Stories of the Hollywood casting couch have been around since the dawn of entertainment. In SIN, Kaminski tells the familiar tale with the #metoo movement ever-present in our minds. In some ways, this play is timeless, and it often reminded me of a 1940's play with the starlet being taken advantage of by the brutish producer. There is a film noir quality to this play that adds to the intrigue and danger that exist between the male and female characters. It is an explosive piece of theatre and would definitely make a great radio drama.

  • Debbie Lamedman: To the End of Time

This is a charming and poignant play that deals with multiple issues. Gallant entices us into the tale and smartly throws us a curveball mid-way through. From that moment on, our entire perspective changes and we see the play for what it is. TO THE END OF TIME is an important piece about gender roles, the environment, and the immigration crisis. This would be an incredible piece for actors to use their physicality and an excellent selection for any 10-minute play festival. Wonderful work!

  • Debbie Lamedman: Ashes of the Revolution

I love this play on so many levels. First, the sibling relationship is absolutely beautiful, and so clearly defined. Bray is able to explore the world of imagination from a child's perspective, and this allows us to take the journey with them. As an adult, it's not easy to write young characters without slipping into some sort of generic portrayal, but Bray never goes down that road. Deedee and Amelia are each their own person, and their fierce love for each other shines through. Though Deedee has autism, there is no stereotyping here. He is delightful in his own right!

  • Debbie Lamedman: Hong Kong Date Night

A fun and entertaining love story for the ages! All those who think bats are responsible for a certain virus may rethink their evilness after reading this delightful short play by Angela J. Davis. This is a great piece for actors and would be one of the highlights of any 10-minute play festival. Well done!

  • Debbie Lamedman: My Infinity Mask

This is a great and timely piece. Diamond cleverly intersperses humor with truth and pathos and gives the character of Abby real dimension. Any actor worth their salt will be able to sink their chops into this one. Nice work!

  • Debbie Lamedman: The Cavity - a monologue by D. Lee Miller

The nervousness and stream-of-conscious thought of Miranda, who is sitting in a dentist's waiting room, shines through in this fun piece. Who doesn't hate going to the dentist? And when someone else has your magazine, and your head is pounding from the ache in your mouth, what else is there to do but take a magazine quiz that may give you an identity crisis? Nice work with this one!
