  • Debbie Lamedman: The Point

MacLean easily sets up a situation where we think we're seeing a bunch of lowlife townies getting their drink on. The truth is much harder to realize, as the story unfolds and a gruesome development is revealed. The rigidity and stress between the couple exist from the start. And as the play moves forward, we are drawn further into their shocking and callous act of vengeance. Disturbingly engaging!

  • Debbie Lamedman: Watch the Birdie

What a fun romp of a play! It certainly got my heart beating as I feared for Madge and hoped she could retrieve her precious camera from the ledge of the 20th story building. Kurtas-Chapman implements a few twists and turns in this short 10-minute piece to keep you on your toes. This play would be a terrific vehicle for a comedienne with lots of physical dexterity. I can clearly envision someone like Lucille Ball having a blast with the role of Madge. This would be a great piece for 10-minute play festivals!

  • Debbie Lamedman: Internet Famous

This play is the type of piece that makes you feel like you're a fly on the wall. The dialogue is authentic, the conversation is relatable. Most people I know do NOT want to be captured on video and put on the Internet, good, bad, or otherwise. Milo is a very sympathetic character. And I also related to him, because I, too, have punched a dog. But it was attacking my dog. Thank goodness no one was around with a camera! Terrific piece for short play festivals!

This play is beautiful, poetic, and heartbreaking. Gabridge takes us by the hand and leads us into the depths of this family’s grief. The story unfolds in a succinct and theatrical way, allowing all our senses to fully come alive. We experience each distinct season on the farm and get caught up in the tragedy of this broken, grieving family and the dilemma of how to grow sustainable produce. Fantastic roles for four strong actors!

  • Debbie Lamedman: The Way You Made Me (a solo show)

Unbelievably visual. The language Partain uses is somewhere between poetic and narrative, but always with an eye on the theatrical. This piece is simply heavenly. It evoked so much emotion and memory for me that I felt as if Partain chose to include snippets from my own life. Beautifully written. I would love to see this performed. Wonderful work!

  • Debbie Lamedman: HAPPY ENDING

This is a sweet, narrative monologue that encapsulates the love one sister has for another. Though we hear more details about the sister, Henny than of Alice, the woman speaking, the way Alice describes her sister's life and tells Henny's story illustrates the love she has for her. It is a lovely tale which indeed has a "Happy Ending"!

  • Debbie Lamedman: DIVORCE PARTY

What a fun piece! I think the actors involved will have a blast doing this. Mayhem and mystery on a train! Doesn't get better than that! It's a great set-up for Mariah and Juanita to try and save their marriage, with lots of twists and secrets revealed along the way! Great fun!

  • Debbie Lamedman: Home-Style Cooking at the Gateway Cafe

Right about the time when I started thinking this play was going to be just another depiction of small-town life, it flipped on me and went in a direction I never saw coming! I was delighted! The characters are absolutely delightful, and the twist in plot employed by Philip Middleton Williams makes this short play more than satisfying! HOME-STYLE COOKING AT THE GATEWAY CAFE is as delicious as Celeste's lunch special! Eat up, and enjoy!

What a marvelous ten-minute play! There is so much fun and playfulness in this piece, and I think it would be exciting to see it performed. The play is a bit of a roller coaster ride and Busser's creation of these two individuals, and the pacing of the lines will have you laughing out loud as I did. Anyone who has gone through the tediousness of a job interview (and who hasn't?) will relate to this outlandish example of what hoops we must jump through to land a job. This piece should be included in all the best 10-minute festivals!

  • Debbie Lamedman: LA 8 AM (a ten minute play)

WOW! I started reading this play immediately thinking it was going to be a clever little comedy. And then it takes a sharp turn. And I did not see that coming! So ... WOW! What I most admire about Levine's writing in this piece is the succinctness of the dialogue. Nothing is wasted. Every line matters. And the fluidity in which it flows is almost poetic in nature. And then it packs a wallop! I can't imagine any audience walking away from seeing this play and not uttering the word, "WOW!" Excellent writing!
