  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: PASSING (2M, 3W)

A beautifully crafted play that creates a detailed mosaic of colonialism by looking at one family's colonialist actions that stand in for whole countries. PASSING shows how easy it was/still is in many ways for settlers to take what isn't theirs and assume they are doing something wholesome and good. Shocking and horrifying, the story draws us in, and in the most poetic of ways, breaks our hearts.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Impossible Theories Of Us

The moral questions raised in this play are really important, and the play itself is filled with moments of tenderness, love and hope. I am moved by the relationship at its center and enjoy how Mabey keeps us guessing as to where the play might take us, how love and loss play out over time, and how humanity might be able to learn from technology as we respond to and learn from what it could offer. Such an imaginative piece! A beautiful play.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Camera Obscura: a complicated connection in 2 acts

This is a fascinating 1 act that I would love to see a second act for - that dinner especially. Yes! I love the G-d stuff, the pressure it exerts, and there are some amazing lines I don't ever want to forget, lines I wish I'd written. This is wonderful work, great characters with deep dynamics between them. History that exists in every line in the subtext. Important work for so many reasons like how hard it is still for so many of us to be out and to be able to heal from the culture we live in.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Marianas Trench (Part One of The Second World Trilogy)

This is a beautiful epic play that is so moving. A political thriller and a love story. A story of authenticity in a dangerous world. I love the way Sickles captures my attention with the quirky character of Teddy and his imagination of the deepest part of the sea and creates a metaphor about camouflage and the dangers of true love in an unsafe world. So relatable.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Oh, Dear God, Dad is a Feminist

A beautiful play about a father and a daughter who are strong enough to enjoy each other's strengths while standing up to each other. The injuries are metaphorical and meaningful, and the characters gain strength in the playing through relating to each other. I love how the play breaks the fourth wall and gives the audience so much attention. Ruyle creates a lot of complexity in a form that is often void of nuance. Well done!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Snooze: a monologue

Very funny and specific piece that would be a blast to work on as a monologue. Can be done by anyone. And yet the quirk factor that Cameron delves into should be a good reason to do this. I mean it's quirky in a good way.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Sayle Island, not exactly: A Familial Memory Rendered Queerly in Multimodal, Polymorphous, Intergenerational, & Transtemporal Perspective

A beautiful exploration of a communal memory created with an ensemble of fully alive characters in various life-stages (multigenerational) and with great pacing and drive, a journey to an island they may never reach, a wanting, a longing that is a kind of nostalgia for an imagined future all the while the past slips behind. I am fascinated by this play and will probably keep re-reading it.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Yellow Wallpaper 2.0 2020

Wow! This is an incredibly dramatic piece that pulls no punches about motherhood, breastfeeding, cis-het-partnering, the neediness and selfishness of white men, the pressures on and anxieties of people who give birth and our desire to have lives beyond our ability to feed and clean our spawn, the loneliness of parenting as the primary caregiver... There is so much said here in EDGE Of ONE's SEAT DRAMA about the inequities that continue to this very minute. This play is so relatable. I wish I'd written it! VISCERAL and full of desperation. POWERFUL!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Just In Our Little Family

A wonderful short that will be super for actors to dig into. So much history uncovered without it feeling exposition-y. So much that happens in this brief exchange. There are moments of realization and recognition that land with real force. Well done!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Boy My Greatness

A stunningly theatrical play that will surely take the world by storm. The exploration of gender and sexuality, the characters embodying these predicaments so wonderfully, will surely make this a classic play for many years to come. I love a play that can be performed on an empty stage, and this is so gorgeously written! A tour de force!
