Artistic Statement

I write stories that display both the tribulations and triumphs that live with my world of intersectionality being Black and Queer in America.

While pushing through stigma, oppression, objectification, and appropriation – I find hope in the ways my people and I still find ways to dole out art that inspires so much of the cultural landscapes of which we reside in (and beyond). Black folks and Queer folks keep giving the world compassionate glimpses of untold aspects of our humanity that live inside the kaleidoscopic breadth of our existence.

My work explores the darker sides our lives, but always has a bright side for balance. I believe the best source of symmetry is through comedy, usually in the form of satire, which I consider to be a refined and almost dignified way to present stereotypes and archetypes for the sake of exposition and entertainment. I create art for the 99%.

I have a passion for creating immersive, site-specific, devised work for adventurous audiences.
