  • We Will Not Describe the Conversation
    1 Apr. 2020
What resonates in this amazing new work is the modern belief that we are right (whoever we are) and that they are wrong (whoever they are) and that our rightness justifies any action, and any statement. There are no disagreements, there are no differences of opinion, there is right and there is wrong. And it is this sense of being right that makes one superior to the other. We are free to define our own reality, and in that definition we reign supreme. Carabotsos deftly describes our entire society, one in which paranoia and alienation dominate our actions. Highly recommended!
  • THE SCANLON ROAD (from the AN IRISH HEART COLLECTION)
    25 Mar. 2020
A charming, Irish-inspired variant on the you-can't-there-from-here tale, pitting the tourist against the local, with satisfying results. A recommended addition to an evening of short plays.
  • CYRANO ON THE MOON
    23 Mar. 2020
A warmly romantic and bittersweet rumination on desire and the meaning (and perhaps the point) of true love. Cross creates complete and compact reimaginations of these classic characters, honoring the source material and her audience working to create the satisfactory conclusion we all long for, for Cyrano, for Roxanne, and for ourselves.
  • TO TOUCH
    18 Mar. 2020
A brief, touching moment (pun intended) between two people insisting on connection. Just what we need right now. Many thanks.
  • Photos with my Rapist: A One-Minute Monologue
    11 Mar. 2020
Succinct. Real. Brilliant. What is truly heartbreaking is that anyone could choose to perform this perfect, brief monologue. I recommend that you do.

Like "Green Eggs and Ham" featuring a Manic Pixie Dream Girl, this is a delightful, comic café au lait of a sketch. Cheers!
  • REACH
    24 Feb. 2020
Emmett and Samuel Hanly have created a short play that rises in tension and absurdity, as colorful characters collide, matching wits and superpowers with a wry and inscrutable desk manager in a seedy motel in the middle of nowhere; worth a read and a recommendation, "Reach" is a divine comedy.
  • “Blanche and Lousie with Their Eyes Turned Skyward”
    22 Feb. 2020
Schilling and Czarnota crafted a playfully delirious short script to educate and entertain children about the history of two virtually unknown historic female aviators and describe the science of air travel with pluck and moxie. It's my favorite kind of play for kids, one which respects their intelligence and isn't afraid to be poetic, fantastic, and progressive.
  • BREAKOUT SESSION or FROGORSE
    22 Feb. 2020
What happens when the gatekeepers of enlightenment are guilty of the same visual and mental limitations and prejudices as those they seek to enlighten? With drama and tension, wit and absurdity, Salter illustrates the systemic implicit bias in our society that require our attention, not only that which is evident in our police forces. Very lucky to have caught a rehearsal at Cleveland Public Theatre, this play should be produced across the nation.
  • Matthew Weaver Meets the Goddess Aphrodite
    13 Feb. 2020
Important advice from the goddess of love delivered directly but with compassion, as is only appropriate. Weaver (the playwright) delivers this metaphoric vignette swiftly, poetical but with with helpful realism. It is what it is, and it is recommended!
