I'm a playwright who gives voice to individuals from the other side of the tracks—not just the tracks of class divisions, but also the divisions of gender, race, politics, religion, history, and even species. I'm not interested in providing escapist entertainment or reaffirming existing power structures. Instead, I seek to shine a light on those in the shadows, those whose wisdom, perspectives, and internal and external experiences have been ignored and devalued.

That said, I enjoy comedy as well as tragedy, and believe that powerful works need not be heavy or didactic. Audiences are moved by both laughter and tears. The best writing I do elicits both.
