  • Donna Gordon: Almost Mary

It would be difficult to find a play this engaging about children - and one that any adult could enjoy also. Great roles for children and any youth theatre would be fortunate to get ahold of this one. To top it all off, it's a history play about women in careers - very timely. From a humble beginning, Mary was a first in meaningful ways. Above all, she filled her generational role, following in her father's footsteps.

  • Donna Gordon: ANGEL OF HOPE

The dialogue between the two sisters is beautifully done. This is a great Christmas story and I would love to see it done. Two children talking together is seldom seen on the stage.

  • Donna Gordon: ELEANOR AND ALICE: Conversations Between Two Remarkable Roosevelts

I greatly enjoyed this biography. Alice turned out to be a fine foil to her idealistic cousin. Both of them were powerful women, with very different approaches to politics. Ms. Abrams presents a picture of exactly what we would expect Ted Roosevelt's daughter to be like. The view into the Roosevelt family was a new take on this extraordinary family. The focus on Eleanor's personality provides a much closer look at this First Lady than we usually get. Would love to see the age progression on stage.

  • Donna Gordon: AFFIRMATION

This is an intriguing topic. Church versus true faith comes to play here. What actor wouldn't want to play the televangelist? Difficult questions are being asked and it will be interesting to see how Ms. Graetz concludes this.

  • Donna Gordon: Bonhoeffer's Cost

A very moving tribute to Dietrich Bonhoeffer. It's the kind of play that so clearly pits evil against Jesus' example. The writer beautifully depicts humility through the theologian's character. Although the ideals are here to see, the situations are realistic and believable. The writer adds one more story to the history of WWII, and any audience would enjoy this inside look at Germany's cruel leadership. Hitler was out to rule the world but his soldiers could not rule Bonhoeffer's attitudes of love and generosity.

  • Donna Gordon: The Pantheon of Anthem Protesters

I like the inside look at the rights to protest. You show that this right has been around a very long time and is fundamentally American. Your setting is unusual and an unexpected place for the story.

  • Donna Gordon: Grasmere

To me, a historical play is always welcome. Sure, we have kings and queens, but do we have a brother, a famous poet, and a sister as the main characters? Not, usually. This play accurately details one writer helping another formulate a very famous poem. For a lover of literature or drama, this is enjoyable. It shows personal relationships without making the individuals involved grandiose. A modern audience would love this.

  • Donna Gordon: The Gift

I guess kids are really like this nowadays, though I detected depression in this scene. Teenage suicide is a reality: I hope these two cared about each other enough to find meaning. I don't see teaching in this play as much as I see compassion, especially when we find out what they have been through. Very realistic dialogue here.

  • Donna Gordon: Mountain Law

This is an interesting take on the Mormon way of life in the 1800's. This life included a strict adherence to their laws. The author shows how the dedication to this religion can be extreme, and how this might lead to the breaking of these laws. I don't know much about Mormonism, but I recognize self-righteousness which is upstaged by infidelity. The dialogue fits the setting and time period.

  • Donna Gordon: The Bus Stop

The situation is so terrible. But the conversation is so real. That's a nice combination. Eve covered a most difficult subject but she handled it.
