Beautiful and magical folk tale. I saw this at Alter Theatre in San Rafael, CA, with a bare bones production and was transfixed. Wonderful twists.

I started out caught up in the language, in the interplay between the three voices, sometimes talking to each other, sometimes past each other, and suddenly, about two-thirds of the way through, I realized I was feeling intensely sad as it moved to the end. This is a powerful play about the opioid epidemic, and needs to be heard and seen.

I feel sad right now just editing this comment the next day, it's that powerful.
  • Not Your White Christmas
    6 Jan. 2019
Shows me in a fun way the complexities of being families of color in today's political climate. Witty, sharp dialog and situations light up a couple's holiday visit home.
  • Neighbors by the Sea

Turns on a dime from hilarious to dangerous. A vivid allegory about humanity's apparent contrary needs to create conflict between peoples and to be let alone to live ones life.
  • Fénix
    22 Nov. 2018
An intense account of a horrible, real crime; recovery; and triumph. Fénix puts you there when Natalia Ponce de Leon was attacked because someone couldn't accept her being herself, and what she did afterwards. Natalia is so present.

A Christmas play for people who aren't into Christmas plays, this is funny and dark and fantastic (as in fantasy). Would be a lot of fun for a theatre with imaginative set and prop designers. Dialog moves well and deals with real issues. Lots of conflict and entertaining throughout. Avoids pat answers or endings.
  • Sky's the Limit: A Very Queer Fairy Tale
    6 Aug. 2018
Imaginative, fun, and very meta twist on the lets-rescue-the-princess fairy tale trope. Gets in its political points dramatically and theatrically. I'd love to see this.

This culture clash between mother, son, and son's lover is funny, touching, and full of twists and turns. Brings a fresh voice to the coming-out story.
  • Sunday Sauce
    5 May. 2018
Funny, dark play about loss. A journey into Italian America. The characters are vividly drawn as is the world they inhabit. Sharp tongues clash only to share a table as Tess waits for a ghost.

I saw the Quantum Dragon production and loved it. A delightful and touching look at how aging is treated in society told as speculative fiction with a larger-than-life central character.
