  • Rachael Carnes: Reserved Seat

Raw and vulnerable, Timms' monologue digs into the layers of grief, painfully unfolding a future that won't happen, and a past that the character won't forget. A relatable, human moment. Well done!

  • Rachael Carnes: Catching Lemons

Stunning! Warm and relatable, with subtext that swoops and bends around painful realities, without ever losing the human thread. I appreciate the intergenerational POV, the way that the writer weaves the story, leaving rich textures for the audience to see and take hold of. Simply beautiful work here.

  • Rachael Carnes: My Mare Lady

If this play doesn't transport you back in time to the cratering awkwardness of your teen years, I don't know what will. Hayet plays with universal themes in this taut little moment - Taking us right to the alchemic, terrifying and exciting connections and near misses. It's a pleasure to read, like watching two magnets repel and attract.

  • Rachael Carnes: Smile, Baby

In one page, Haas nails it. Read it, produce it, publish it.

  • Rachael Carnes: Pussygrabber

A tour-de-force, raw and real. This is a play that perfecty encapsulates the emotional, physical and cognitive dissonance of this moment we're living through. Brilliant, and so painful.

  • Rachael Carnes: Monsters Beyond the Midnight Zone

Well, Partain has written my actual nightmare right here. Claustrophobia, fear of water - I can imagine an audience *loving* this wild, imaginative, auditory journey. I love plays in the dark! And this one's so suspenseful and beautifully written, taking us right to the moment - might as well be in deep space, we're in such uncharted territory - and bringing us in close to this relevant, human pulse, even in the midst of terror. Love this!

  • Rachael Carnes: Moose Guy

A fun set-up: A dark cabin, flashlights, a moose head and — Dresner's comic sensibilities make this two-hander, with moose, really pop. Makes me think twice about the rental homes I've stayed in that had taxidermy on the walls!

  • Rachael Carnes: Sock Puppet Fetish Noir

Hahaha! Perfect and hilarious. Love the language, the reversals and zigzags, the ramping pressure - escalating to frothy, farcical heights. This would be SO satisfying to see onstage. A noir comedy with a sock puppet?? What's not to love?

  • Rachael Carnes: That Midnight Rodeo

This is a remarkably nuanced piece - exploring heavy themes with a lyrical, yet earthbound, tactile quality. Unflinching, inviting thought and response, Price's moment engages heart and mind.

  • Rachael Carnes: The Egg

A perfect parable, and this week, a balm for the soul. When it comes to looking at women's reproductive rights, Antone gets at the heart of the matter, with wisdom, humor and heart.
