  • Paul Smith: Somewhere Over the Glory Effect

I have long admired Lee Lawing's wonderful imagination and this short sci-fi piece is no exception. In it's utter simplicity it has a huge sense of fun and is hilarious and maybe just has an innocent dig at gay symbolism into the bargain - but in a gentle and comic way. Wonderful.

  • Paul Smith: BAPTISMAL - 10-Minute, moments in a confessional booth

As a piece of theatre about faith, Baptismal covers nearly all bases. Tom Erb has crafted a charming piece of work which looks at the pros and cons and a number of religions as a young man confesses what he sees as sins to a priest. By turn it is funny, wry, interesting and pertinent; we are all so full of questions about faith, whether we have one or no and through the confessional device the writer offers some thoughts to the Everyman who seeks enlightenment.

  • Paul Smith: Hugh Done It

Oh this is brilliant - just up my street - a wonderful play on words short comedy which is huge fun - what is clever, is that it just goes on long enough, not outstaying its welcome. A little treat!

  • Paul Smith: Any Last Words: A Monologue

Cole Hunter Dzubak offers up an absolute winner of a monologue here - damn, wish I had written it!!! A simple question creates a wonderful look at something you cannot (and maybe shouldn't) plan and here the writer uses historical examples and wit to tell a story which has great depth - and I bet it will get you thinking about your own last words!! Fantastic!

  • Paul Smith: The Powder Room

Christine Foster creates the most wonderful scenario in ten minutes with a story which could be played over two hours on stage on many years in real life. The build up, the climax and the conclusion are perfectly balanced to arrive at a play which is both comic and touching and which is packaged with precision and care. A cracking piece.

  • Paul Smith: Stockholm Or...

I have yet to discover the secret behind writing an effective piece of writing lasting just a minute or so; I need to take a lesson from Christopher Plumbridge in this many layered and three dimensional piece. It is exquisite in what is said and what is left to the imagination, though I yearn to know more about this character and the pull that draws him back to where he came from... beautiful, mysterious with an aching romantic undertone.

  • Paul Smith: 6,745

Even the thought of isolation lasting 6,745 days makes me feel claustrophobic; the description of what Gerald has missed over the years is invigorating and inspiring and then Neil Radtke pulls the rabbit out of the hat with a most wonderful sting in the tail. Cracking stuff.

  • Paul Smith: Please, Don't Go

Heavens above - the most effective 1 minute play I have ever come across. Neil Ratke slaps you across the face and thumps you in the stomach almost at the same time. A huge achievement,

  • Paul Smith: Trust the Axe

The whole idea of Axe Throwing and Beer just makes me laugh immediately and with his innate talent to write of the unusual, Lee Lawing has built a thoroughly engaging play about competitiveness and relationships. Staging the play could be a great challenge - especially with the audience being the target! Huge fun.

  • Paul Smith: Flight of Fancy

To read a Morey Norkin play is to be entertained by the unconventional, the inventive and the hugely entertaining. The scenario is something which may not be too far in the future; but the innate relationship which builds between the passenger and attendant may not be ready for a few years - but it is so well realised that you shouldn't be too sure!!!! Wonderful!
