  • Jan Rosenberg: Shut Up, I'm on a Diet!

Hilarious satire of Eating Disorder treatment centers. As hysterical as this play is, it's really not far from the truth. This play manages to make you laugh AND punch you in the gut. Sometimes the people who love us the most are not the people who have our best interests at heart.

  • Jan Rosenberg: Honors Students

Fawning over this play. It goes from zero to one hundred in just 2 pages. It might be hard to watch, and it's certainly not for the faint of heart, but the power play between teenage girls can be dangerous, and nothing about this is farfetched. The ways we love each other, the ways we try to keep each other, and the ways we try to hurt each other...it's all here. Completely unexpected, unpredictable, and delightful if you're not too scared to look away. Brava!

  • Jan Rosenberg: Tall Tales

This play WRECKED me. Heartbreaking, horrifying play where homophobia and hatred is a literal monster that leaves a trial of trauma in its wake. A splendid work of socio-political horror that is legitimately scary and has the heart of Stephen King's It. Reminded me a bit of 'Heroes of the Fourth Turning'. I was so taken with these characters. Beautiful work.

  • Jan Rosenberg: LEAVE THE BALCONY OPEN

A haunting, darkly funny play about the epidemic of suicide on campus that is so frequent people are almost complacent about it. Adults being nonchalant and failing the people they need to protect by hiding the truth. I loved the characters of BADLY DRAWN JON and I ALMOST DIED CATHY. Man, this play is as brutal as it is funny. But so very necessary.

  • Jan Rosenberg: Dog

This is one of the best plays about abusive family dynamics I've ever read. I'd love to see how this would play out onstage. Elmo's evolution is terrifying. The defending and blame and gas-lighting is all too real. The moment when Elmo first 'speaks' and gives their list of demands is absolutely thrilling, disorienting theater. Really wonderful.

This is the 2nd play I've read by this author (highly recommend Night Creatures as well). I'm blown away by how the mundanity of worklife is captured, the awkward yet meaningful and oddly deep conversations with people we don't truly know yet see every day...and then it all comes crashing to a horrific end. This is a play about somebody's worst nightmare.

  • Jan Rosenberg: Can I Hold You?: A New Play on Asexuality

WOW-I was floored after reading just one page of this play. This is the asexual experience. A wonderful play about how there's more than one ways to love, and more than one way to be in a loving relationship.

WOW. What a jungle gym of life. The good, the bad, the ugly. Really in awe of the characters and their voices. I would love to see this on a stage.

  • Jan Rosenberg: Mothers

On the page, this is absolutely horrifying and yet all too plausible. I loved the playful twists and turns...and then the not so playful twists and turns. This is a play that I would love to see different interpretations of, having already seen the one at Playwrights Realm.

  • Jan Rosenberg: Advent

The first time I read this play, I got serious Martin McDonagh & Adam Rapp vibes. This is so suspenseful it made my stomach hurt...it's so difficult to pull of Dystopian, post-apocalyptic, & SFF onstage, but ADVENT pulls it off. And with only 3 characters in one location...truly astonishing.
