  • Now and Then (ten-minute play)
    3 Oct. 2022
Ever felt like you were born in the wrong time? Cokinos turns this provocative premise into a thoughtful and fun ten-minute play exploring the experiences of two women separated by five decades. Could see this delighting an audience as part of a short play festival.
  • THE DELIVERY

A work of absurdist wonder that will touch you in all kinds of unexpected ways. Jung depicts a stifled but determined woman looking for herself in past keepsakes and distorted memories using creative staging and clever dialog. Easy to recommend, and I'd love to see this onstage.

A fascinating script that will stay with you long after you experience it. Gonzalez uses minimal dialogue and staging to tell a striking story about the muddy motivations in relationships, especially among those who make art together. Well worth the read, and I'd love to see this staged.

An immensely touching short play about how the passage of time ineffably changes us and our relationships. Finley shows off his gift for dialogue and cleverness in stagecraft, portraying the same relationship in two snapshots separated by years. Really loved seeing this one live in Raleigh in 2016.
  • A Perfect Negroni
    30 Jan. 2019
"Enticing and sweet with a resonant bitterness that stays with you" are the perfect words to describe both this lovely short play and the titular cocktail that inspired it. It's rare to read a one-act that so effectively draws its characters in detail, letting you laugh with them and feel their pain at the same time. If you're looking for a brief but excellent short, A PERFECT NEGRONI is exactly what your theater needs.

This dark comedy/drama isn't for the faint of heart, but the pitch-perfect surprise in the second half makes it easy to recommend. With great characters and dialogue in a creative situation, this is a stellar script—especially for those who don't like their plays falling into neat, clean categories.
  • I'll Tell You at Sunrise
    10 Oct. 2018
The best 10 minute plays feel like a theatrical bolt of lightning—you get the poetry, heart, and humor of a full-length piece in the time it takes for your food to arrive at a restaurant. I'LL TELL YOU AT SUNRISE has all those qualities, giving us a stellar exploration of life, beauty, and why we keep going inside a short scene between two strangers. I'm especially impressed with how this script transitions from staccato, naturalistic dialog into a truly lovely monologue about staying alive. Highly recommended.
  • The Thought Doesn't Count
    30 Sep. 2018
This absolutely lovely 10-minute play nails how couples use humor and farce to deflect and engage with nigh-unspeakable pain. Honest, hilarious, and tear-jerking, you'll be amazed how much beauty and life can be captured in such a brief piece of theater. Highly recommended.
  • Last Dance with MJ

This laugh-out-loud comedy about two best friends devising some well-deserved Tinder revenge is fresh, funny, and well-worth a read. If your theater needs a sexy and smart spearing of how awful online dating is (and which theater doesn't?), this is the play for you.
