It was a joy to read this script. Loved Tristan’s free association moment and when Tristan and Alma share intense cell phone moments. A great group of characters tangled in love connections and the search for clout.

  • Samantha Marchant: As Small As Stars

George and Mary compliment each other beautifully in their contrasts. I adore the adding machine/piano scene. Beautiful, beautiful language like, “Oh… Under the memories, behind the hope, around the corners of the my heart and in the hems of my skirts… the park, too.” I would love to see George testing his shadow. Oh my god, the end… my heart swelled. I love this play!

  • Samantha Marchant: Cross Roads: An Igbo Folktale

Love the myth and the music! Great details like the fly attracted to the lightbulb analogy to Robert coming back to Mississippi.

  • Samantha Marchant: Phoenix Rising

Strong and theatrical, ending in triumph.

  • Samantha Marchant: yo ho.

Love the use of games, music and anachronism. An exciting and smart pirate story that examines love and gender expression.

  • Samantha Marchant: Cities Used the Be Here (A Bunch of Fucking Punks)

The ad for a drummer is golden. The audition looming is great tension. I love how Maribel “really opens up over the intercom.” Alan’s imagination is beautiful. Harley and Texas Jane have a great love.

  • Samantha Marchant: She Fed the Devil (10 minute play)

I love the idea of something you thought was fanciful as a kid being confirmed as an adult! Fun conversation about the after life.

  • Samantha Marchant: Uninvited

A dive into two characters that care for each other but can’t deliver in the moment, no matter how much they want to.

I greatly admire the pace and word choice in this play. “Light them up with my attention” is a beautiful line/moment/feeling. I appreciate the details like the 4.48 reference. The producer’s monologues are sharp and Stan and Evelyn’s stories are enthralling.

  • Samantha Marchant: The Co-Worker (A Monologue)

Urith has a clear and funny line of morality and in this monologue begs you not to cross it.
