  • Martha Patterson: ILLUSION-A New Musical

Great, tragic story of a theatre artist who lost out in the end...I've heard music samples and they're lovely! Great job, Don!

  • A charming monologue about a young boy's memories of his parents dancing together - like Fred & Ginger! Very sweet...

  • Martha Patterson: Palak Paneer

A very funny story about Joe and Diane, who are trying to have a lust-filled dinner at a restaurant, being interrupted by two older women talking bathroom talk. At the end a new restaurant guest, Richie, manages to halt their conversations - but most of the guests end up happy!

  • Martha Patterson: The Incident with the Roast

A lovely play about the relationship between a daughter and a mother who has dementia/Alzheimer's - and it harkens back to a "roast" the daughter bought for her ailing mother to cook. A touching and sweet play about misunderstandings. Features two good roles for older women.

  • Martha Patterson: BETTY, THE STATEN ISLAND FERRY FAIRY

On the Staten Island Ferry, a lawyer, George, who''s "missing out on so much magic", meets a woman, Betty, who imagines she's really a fairy. George tries to unencumber her from that belief. A strange little play about two very different people, and the "fairy" has the last word, giving him some hope, because he has chest pains and near the end of the play thinks he's about to die. Ultimately, the fairy wishes him the best with his wife and kids and tells George to cut down on the tacos and hot sauce.

  • Martha Patterson: AND GOD LAUGHS

We are in Ireland, and Cardinal Sully (his nickname -- his real surname is Sullivan) is suffering from Alzheimer's while he addresses his flock. An interesting and comic rant on how "God laughs" at misery...

  • Martha Patterson: Five Miles Long, Two Hundred Feet High

Jason and Jennifer, despite having two distinctly different Michigan accents (that the playwright explains right away), have a romantic encounter while in a car. Jennifer's aunt has just died and she's attending the funeral; Jason is ex-Army and picks her up when she needs a driver. Together they find mutual attraction in what amounts to a very sweet rendezvous. (Simple set, could be easily done with a few chairs representing the car.)

  • Martha Patterson: AMSTERDAM Short play. Zoom.

A puzzling story but one that's worth a read, where the seeming ghost of Holocaust victim Anne Frank wises up a younger woman named Dani who's being pursued by a man who, Anne tells her, is a rabbi. Anne also tells Dani that the fact that Dani's family is really Jewish was always hidden. The story takes place in Amsterdam, and Dani, after this encounter, thinks she's smoked too much pot. The man who's following Dani never appears - but he must be real, the reader thinks? (As aforementioned, a puzzling tale.)

  • Martha Patterson: You Haven't Changed A Bit

Lovely, touching play about two elders who reunite at a reunion - with an ending that comes as a surprise! Loved this brief piece of work.
