But gothic literature can often feel archaic and misogynist to a contemporary audience. Therefore, Patricia focuses on creating original gothic plays with female-centered storylines inspired by themes and stereotypes associated with the genre. She also writes modern-day theatrical adaptations of iconic gothic novels. Her ultimate goal as a writer is to reclaim the genre and share these stories in a new, nuanced, and post-modernist way.
