  • For the Love of Lina

FOR THE LOVE OF LINA is a super enjoyable read -- the characters are deep and interesting and their relationships are complex. It asks a dark question about the motives a powerful man may have that would lead him to commit atrocities. The ending is magical, fantastical, and redemptive.

This play blew my mind. I had to remind myself to slow down and enjoy the gorgeous poetry of it -- but I was so desperate to know what would happen next. And it is gorgeous: the entire play is a poem of aching beauty and haunting imagery. These characters are so complex, and their relationships morph in such surprising ways. I can't wait to see a production of this someday.

Trauma haunts the family whose lives we follow over decades in Brake-Silla's brief but powerful play, "from." It asks timeless questions -- what is the root of violence? nature or nurture? -- and offers us no simple answers. It is hauntingly beautiful; I would love to see this in production.

A beautiful musical about the pain of loss and the comfort of community.

I cannot recommend this brilliant play enough. Moments of theatrical beauty abound in this play about our relationship with the Divine and with each other. It would be stunning to see in production.

This play had me laughing out loud -- what a fun twist on a trip to hell. I particularly enjoyed the reasons for their fate. Bultrowicz has such a fun point of view and great handling of dialogue. The stakes are high, and the characters are larger than life. This would be so much fun to see as part of a ten minute play festival.

absolutely chilling. absolutely gut-wrenching. Strayer has created something here that feels like nightmare and embodies terror and panic. beautiful and brutal in its intensity, honesty, and theatricality.
  • NO MASK, NO SERVICE, NO SHIT: A FEMALE MONOLOGUE
    24 Nov. 2020
What an excellent, super fun monologue -- a treat for any actor to perform. I was lucky enough to see this in performance during the PGE Faces of America Monologue Festival, and it was a great moment of levity -- but dig a little deeper and it strikes at the collective anxiety we're all navigating in the time of Covid.

Pieces like this from Minigan are like a microcosm of our collective pain in the aftermath of outrageous violence: how we mourn, how we connect with the Divine in the midst of suffering and chaos. I'm grateful to have seen this piece in production this month during the PGE Faces of America Monologue Festival, and it is powerful theatre.

I was so glad to see a production of this piece during the PGE Faces of America Monologue Festival this month. This is a beautiful monologue about transition, about responsibility, and about deep gratitude -- gratitude that drives you to action. I truly love the final moment of this piece.
